Dick Eliot shares some of his favorite lines

At a recent visit to my old friend and guitar teacher Dick Eliot I shot a video of him while he performed and explained some of his strategies for soloing over chord changes and guitar riffs.

Dick is a veteran guitarist who has been performing for over 60 years. He spent 35 years in Los Vegas as a call guitarist for the hotel orchestras, recording sessions, and smaller groupings. While in Las Vegas, Dick played for all of the Sinatras (Frank , Nancy, and Frank Jr.), Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Tony Martin, Barbara Streisand, Liza Minnelli, Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Nancy Wilson, Perry Como, Eydie Gorme & Steve Lawrence, & Frankie Laine, to name a few. He was staff guitarist in Caesar’s Palace House Band, the International Hotel House Band, with twenty-five years at the Riviera Hotel, with the Dick Palombi Orchestra. From an era of huge bands and Orchestras Dick Eliot is a master guitarist — a musical archive embodied in an instrumentalist.

He has over the years shared his vast experience with me and supported me in all my efforts.

Guitar Lessons in Milwaukee

keithWatlingGuitarTeacherStudeoI have been teaching guiar for over a decade at various locations. I have taught old and young students with as many different skill levels and asperations. I try to look at each student goals or interest level to determine what I should teach them rather than teaching everybody the same.

My first goal is determine what skill level a new student possesses and to find out what their guitar goals are. I can then tailor lessons to fit their needs whether they want a casual involvement or something more intense.

I can teach many styles of guitar playing and can design lessons to fit those styles. I can teach the beginner as well as the advanced student.

I am a past student of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music where I studied Jazz guitar and music theory with many great teachers. I believe in basics and stress technique and learning how to read music as it pertains to the guitar. This is where individuals should start their guitar lessons. Once this is achieved all musical directions that students wish to pursue can more easily be realize.

I charge $100 per four-lesson block paid in advance. Lessons are scheduled for the same time every week. I have a studio at Uncle Bob’s Music Center in West Allis, Wisconsin and also one at Kemtone music in Milwaukee. I teach Thursdays at Uncle Bobs and Wednesdays at Kemtone.

I am a skilled professional and I feel I can help you reach your guitar goals with patient guidance and my musical knowledge. Please contact me today.
